Thakshiny Ashokkumar is a Bharatanatyam artist, entrepreneur, and educator, trained under Dr. Revathi Anandkumar.

She has performed across India and internationally, including in the United States at institutions such as the Chicago Tamil Isai Sangam, the Indian Students Association of Northern Illinois University, and the Chicago Samskriti Foundation.

Her journey brings together classical artistry and entrepreneurial depth. Alongside her artistic journey, she plays a key role in a well-established family business, SR Resins and Chemicals Industries and is also the founder of UsedBookr.com.

Having studied and worked in the United States, she experienced the gap in accessing consistent Bharatanatyam training abroad. This led to the creation of Thakshiny Nartaki Gurukulam.

As a performer, she is steadily building her path as a solo Bharatanatyam artist, presenting thematic productions such as Adhiparashakti – The Power Within, Bakthi – The inner journey, and Shades of Krishna.

Her artistic journey has been marked by several distinguished recognitions. She was conferred the title of “Nritha Prabha” by the Indian Federal Dance Association (IFDA), Kerala, a significant acknowledgement of her performance calibre. She has received the “Nrithya Bhushan” title from Nrithya Gana Sabha, and the “Nrithya Kalaimani” title at the Nrithya Vasanth Utsava festival, honouring her dedication to the art form. She was also awarded the title of “Asthana Vidwan” by Kovai Natya Mela, and “Natya Kalamani” at Coimbatore Natyanjali, further establishing her presence across respected classical platforms.
